International Poster Competition "We Want Jazz"
The sixth edition of the International Poster Competition "We Want Jazz," organized by the EuroJAZZ Foundation, is currently underway. The deadline for submissions is August 30, with the final exhibition opening on September 22 at Warsaw Breweries.
This year's competition is dedicated to Krzysztof Komeda, one of the most important Polish jazz musicians and international film music composers. He gained recognition through his collaboration with director Roman Polański, resulting in iconic films such as "Knife in the Water," "Rosemary's Baby," and "The Fearless Vampire Killers." His album "Astigmatic" is considered by global critics as one of the most significant events in the history of Polish jazz.
The competition, titled "Komeda 55," primarily targets graphic artists and commemorates the 55th anniversary of the musician's death, which falls this year. The organizers are accepting competition entries until August 30, 2024. The results will be announced on September 12. For the first time, the award ceremony and opening of the final works exhibition will be held at Browary Warszawskie on September 22.
- Warsaw Breweries has previously showcased the art of talented artists. However, for the first time, we will present the final works of the 'We Want Jazz' competition. We are very pleased about this, as jazz music is especially close to us. We organize the Wola Jazz Festival and summer open-air jazz concerts for children. We encourage everyone to try their hand at this - said Milena Nawrat, Marketing Manager at Echo Investment and a juror for the 6th edition of the International Poster Competition "We Want Jazz."
