A successful jazz concert by Mika Urbaniak and Urszula Dudziak
The first concert of the 2nd edition of the Wola Jazz Festival attracted so many listeners that our Central Garden barely accommodated everyone. We are delighted that you were with us! We invite you to the next Sunday concerts, and for those who did not make it to the performance of Mika Urbaniak, Urszula Dudziak and Victor Davis, we provide a short photo report.
The first Sunday (9 June) of the Wola Jazz Festival belonged to the duo Mika Urbaniak & Victor Davis. Mika Urbaniak is a singer, actress, songwriter and musician. She has been performing on stage as a professional musician since she was 13 years old. She was raised in a New York City home full of music and art. Daughter of legendary world jazz icons Urszula Dudziak and Michał Urbaniak - pioneers of fusion. She grew up in a musical world where musical genres such as pop, jazz, hip-hop, rap, neo-soul, RnB and blues mixed. It was these genres that defined her musical path, which intersected a few years ago with the career of Victor Davis. They combined their strengths and talents to form a formidable duo.
During the concert, the gathered audience heard the Beatles' hits, as well as world pop hits (Sting, Prince, Michael Jackson) in unusual arrangements. The artists were accompanied on stage by a swinging jazz trio and, the inimitable Urszula Dudziak - a leading figure in contemporary vocalism. She has performed and recorded with world-famous artists and has given concerts in almost all countries in Europe, Asia and both Americas, including New York's famous Carnegie Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival. Her song with the graceful title ‘Papaya’, recorded more than 30 years ago, gave rise to the ‘Papaya dance’, known all over the world. Thanks to it, Urszula Dudziak gathers a whole host of new fans in every latitude and all these years after its premiere.
The enormous stage energy of the artists and several dozen minutes of really good music made the concert in Warsaw Breweries a great success and will be remembered for a long time.
