Start of the second edition of the Wola Jazz Festival at the Warsaw Breweries
The first concert of the summer instalment of the Wola Jazz Festival will take place on 9 June. The artists taking part in the biggest celebration of jazz in Wola will perform on the open-air stage in the Central Garden of Warsaw Breweries. Admission to the events is free.
The second edition of the festival will run throughout June. The series of concerts on Sunday afternoons will be opened by a unique duo formed by a mother and daughter. On the stage will perform jazz icon Urszula Dudziak and Mika Urbaniak - singer, songwriter and musician, who has toured the world with Quincy Jones and his big band, Lenny Whit, Tom Brown, Richard Bona and Hiram Bullock. Her first album ‘Closer’, produced by Troy Miller, provided her with a Fryderyk Award in the ‘Best Pop Album’ category in 2010. Her subsequent albums, which were also warmly received, were produced in collaboration with Victor Davis. During the June concert at Warsaw Breweries, it will be possible to hear exceptional jazz arrangements, which she will perform with Victor Davis and with Urszula Dudziak, a leading figure on the Polish jazz music scene, known and valued worldwide for her unusual style and the unparalleled scale of her voice. Urszula Dudziak has released more than 50 albums and has performed with outstanding musicians, including: Nina Simone, Flora Purim, Ron Carter, Michael Brecker, Sting, Lionel Hampton, Bobby McFerrin and Carmen McRae. A multiple award-winner, she received a Fryderyk Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. The concert line-up will be completed by Piotr Matuszczyk (piano), Patryk Zakrzewski (drums) and Andrzej Zielak (bass).
-Wola Jazz Festival is being organised for the second time, and on the occasion of Children's Day we invited the youngest to get to know this wonderful kind of music. Jazz has made its permanent home at Warsaw Breweries and we are extremely happy about that, because it is a genre that enchants with its expression and multicolourism, and combines various cultural worlds. During the Wola Jazz Festival, the greatest Polish jazz artists will perform on our open-air stage, so we strongly encourage you to mark the dates of the concerts in your calendars. It will be a unique opportunity to relax among the greenery of trees and soothing sounds - says Milena Nawrat, Marketing Manager at Echo Investment.
All concerts as part of the Wola Jazz Festival will take place at 6 p.m., in the Central Garden, 60 Grzybowska St. Admission to the events is free.
