WOONERF

Mietek Wajnberg's house party

A new exhibition, presenting a collection of 12 unique shots of the area around 66 Żelazna Street in Warsaw, went up on our Woonerf on February 25th. It is here, in Wola, that a composer and pianist, Mieczysław Wajnberg, was born.

It is where, in the very heart of Wola, in 1919, a composer and pianist Mieczyslaw Wajnberg was born - an author of the opera "Pasażerka" [The Passenger (female)], the symphony "Kadisz" [Kaddish], a creator of film music and of works which are now being rediscovered by performers all over the world.

The opening of the exhibition took place on September 5th 2021 and starting from today it is also available (and this is a real honour for us!) in the Warsaw Breweries, located in the immediate vicinity of the area presented in the photographs.

Come to the exhibition and discover the abandoned and decaying tenement houses, in which the glow of their former beauty and sensitivity still shines today. We hope that the exhibition will make a great impression on you as it did on us, and that the captured pictures will stay with you for a long time.

Be there with us!

These shots are a must-see!

COMPOSER'S

HOUSE

It is here, in Wola, that a composer and pianist, Mieczysław Wajnberg, was born. Agnieszka Stępka, an author of the photographs, in an original reporter's style, presents life-like vacant buildings - deteriorating tenement houses, which still today reflect the splendor of their former glory.

Learn about a story that is exceptionally close to our Wola's heart.

Or maybe this black and white exhibition will inspire you to go a few steps further and capture in your memory preserved remains of old Warsaw.

"Domówka u Wajnberga" (in English: Wajnberg's house party) is a collection of 12 unique photographs presenting the shots of the "Wola landmarks" - abandoned, early-modernist tenement houses at 66 Żelazna Street.

Agnieszka Stępka, a winner of the competition held by the Sphere of Harmony Foundation and the Mieczysław Wajnberg Institute, is responsible for the black-and-white shots.  In the pictures, the photographer has captured unique shots of Warsaw's monuments that are still alive.
